The Philippines now has the heaviest Internet users in the world, according to a new report. In the latest Digital 2019 report, the Philippines trumped other countries in Internet use, via any device, with 10 hours and 2 minute average time spent. Brazil and Thailand trails behind with average times of 9 hours and 29 minutes, and 9 hours and 11 minutes, respectively. Globe sends customer data to wrong users

Globe has confirmed that it has experienced an issue with their On The List program where they sent the data registration confirmation receipt containing personal information to wrong users. Reports of the incident were posted on Twitter starting January 25, 2019, where prepaid subscribers who signed-up to Globe’s On The List community received confirmation emails that contains someone else’s personal information including the complete name, prepaid number, email address, and complete address. DICT releases official statement regarding Mislatel’s franchise

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) posted a statement regarding the franchise validity of Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. (Mislatel). Previously, the Senate public services hearing committee declared that Mislatel had violated its provisions. Mislatel franchise ‘deemed revoked’ for violating provisions

Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. (Mislatel) is facing issues with its franchise when it was “deemed revoked” for not being able to comply with its provisions. During a Senate public services committee hearing, Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon pointed out that Mislatel violated its provisions when it failed to operate within a year after it was granted a franchise in April 1998. Mislatel president Nicanor Escalante explained that the company was ready to roll out in Parang, Maguindanao in 2003 but was not able to do so due to the “peace and order situation” in the area.
